The bungalows at Townend Avenue are a purpose-built development of 32 two-bedroom homes set in open plan gardens. 

Each bungalow is self-contained with a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom suite and well-appointed bedrooms and living rooms. The bungalows have electric, gas or coal fired central heating and are all double glazed. 

Conveniently located close to Ackworth village, Townend Bungalows is just a short bus ride from supermarkets, local shops, pubs, clubs, churches, hairdressers, a fish and chip shop, chemists, butcher and a variety of sandwich shops. 

A mobile library calls at the bungalow twice a month and a hairdresser visits weekly. 

WDH's Care Link emergency contact system is wired into each home ensuring access to assistance 24 hours a day. 

All bungalows are fitted with a fire alarm which is tested regularly. 

Local amenities 

There are local shops and a doctors’ surgery in Ackworth, and a regular bus service runs into Pontefract from the bus stop on Station Road. 

Activities 

Across all our schemes we like to help create a strong sense of community, and we do this by supporting like-minded people to establish a programme of regular activities.  

Some of our schemes enjoy bingo, attend coffee mornings, or take part in other social activities.
